ALL of the recipes here have copious amounts of alcohol. You'd still have to eat quite a bit to even get tipsy (unless you're like me!), but they are still definitely not the sugarplums your little ones should be getting into.

Brandy balls are among the oldest and finest of the Adults Only Christmas sweets recipes. You can use any flavor of brandy you like, or mix up a batch with several different ones!
Ingredients:
6 ounces baker's semi-sweet chocolate squares
½ cup brandy
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
2½ cups wheat bran cereal, crushed
1 cup dried apricots, finely chopped

Let stand 30 minutes. Form in ¾ inch balls. Roll in cocoa powder. Place in candy cups in covered container. Let stand several days before serving.

Raspberry Balls
A new twist on an old Christmas sweets recipe! You can create endless variations of this one, simply by switching out a couple of the ingredients!
For a festive kick, try rolling in powdered sugar mixed with sugars in holiday colors.
Ingredients:
1 cup vanilla wafers, crushed
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup almonds, toasted and chopped
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 tablespoons butter
¼ cup raspberry preserves, seedless
¼ cup raspberry liqueur
6 ounces baker's semi-sweet chocolate, grated
Combine wafer crumbs, sugar, almonds, and cocoa in mixing bowl. Heat butter and preserves until butter melts. Blend butter mixture into crumb mixture; add raspberry liqueur. Chill for about 1 hour, then shape into 1-inch balls. Roll balls in grated chocolate.

Rum Balls
One of the most traditional Christmas Sweets Recipes, which I have updated just a little bit. You can switch a little all-purpose flour for the instant coffee, and add a bit more rum or some plain water if you don't like the mocha flavor.
Ingredients:
¼ cup instant coffee
¼ cup rum
1 tablespoon water
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
2 cups vanilla wafers, crushed
3 cups powdered sugar, divided
1 cup nuts, chopped
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
dash salt
In a mixing bowl, dissolve coffee in rum and water. Add the cocoa, crumbs, 2 cups of powdered sugar, nuts, and corn syrup. Mix well.
Sift remaining 1 cup powdered sugar onto waxed paper. Measure dough mixture in teaspoonfuls, and roll into small balls. Roll in the powdered sugar. Store in tightly covered container for several days before serving.

White Russian Candies
This is a powerful version of my Adults Only Christmas Sweets recipes. Served with the liquid version of a white Russian, these treats won't last long!!
Ingredients:
16 ounces milk chocolate chips, chopped
1 cup heavy cream
¼ cup Kahlua
½ cup finely chopped nuts of choice
½ cup milk chocolate, finely grated
Melt chocolate in a double boiler to 120°.
Measure the cream into a pan and bring just to a boil. Remove this from the heat and cool to 120°.
Add the chocolate to the cooled cream and stir until the mixture is smooth. Stir the Kahlua into the chocolate, mixing well. Scrape mixture onto a baking sheet and refrigerate until firm.
Remove from refrigerator and shape into small rough balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper.
Roll the truffles in the grated chocolate and chopped nuts, pressing gently so they will adhere.
Refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator and let warm to room temperature before serving. Store in covered container in the refrigerator.
